LATEST CONVERSATIONS: The Abiding vs. Non-Abiding Thing

I just want to preface this by saying that I have never engaged in a non dual discussion with anyone before. On March 16th 2012 I had an unexpected experience and researched it online and discovered that others had had the same sort of experience and I found SAND and have been watching the DVDs and such ever since. I wasn’t completely innocent, I have a degree in philosophy and knew that the experience had something to do with what Shankara was talking about

From my experience, I guess I am one of those hardliners in the no-self world. I’m not too interested in the daily, I can operate and such, but I’m always aware of that which is in the background. It is abiding, it wasn’t at first, but it is now.

There are a lot of people preaching to embrace the world in addition to the non dual experience. That you need to have union with the two and such. But I just keep wondering that maybe these people had a little glimpse and then invented the idea that you have to have both just to satisfy their egos. For me it just seems like there is one thing going on. I would like to get other people’s ideas and mean no harm by my comments

Hello Clinton. Sure, we can “embrace the world”, because the realisation of non-duality is the realisation “I Am That” – the realisation that I Am the world, I Am both no thing and all things – therefore I embrace the world, and all that I Am…

Hi Clinton. I’m new to discussing non duality as well. Words aren’t enough. Are you referring to the oneness that is talked about here?
